Verification notes
- Broth: no animal products, gluten-free, kombu/fruit/vegetable base + ~2ml soy sauce (official)
- Vegan main: vegetable curry ONLY (1 of 6 mains)
- Toppings include chicken/pork/beef/bonito condiment — choose plant toppings
Soup curry is Sapporo’s other noodle-free obsession, and Nagi does something rare: its broth is officially animal-product-free and gluten-free, drawn from kombu, fruits, and vegetables. Be clear about what that means, though — this is not a vegan restaurant. Of six main curries, only the vegetable curry is meat-free; the rest use chicken, pork, or beef. Order carefully and this renovated old-house shop is a lovely plant-based meal.
What We Verified
- Broth is plant-based & gluten-free — the official site states the soup uses no animal products, made from kombu, fruits, and vegetables, with about 2ml of soy sauce per serving. Checked July 5, 2026.
- Only one vegan main — we checked the official menu: vegetable curry (¥1,410) is the single meat-free main among six. Toppings include chicken, pork, beef tendon, and a Sri Lankan condiment containing bonito — vegans should stick to vegetable, tofu, natto, and mushroom toppings.
- Hours & access — weekdays 11:30–14:30 / 17:30–21:30, weekends through-open 11:30–21:30; 7–10 min walk from Kita-24-jo or Kita-34-jo Sta.
What We Could Not Confirm
- Full ingredient details of the vegetable curry (no official allergen chart).
- Kitchen equipment is very likely shared with meat menus (small single kitchen) — unconfirmed officially.
- The 2ml of soy sauce may matter to strict halal readers; the shop has no halal positioning.
What to Order
Vegetable curry (¥1,410) with plant-based toppings — tofu, natto, mushrooms. Rice is included and spice level 0–5 is free.

The Label That Got Corrected
An honest small story about how this listing works. Our first pass on Nagi, based on secondary sources, was going to publish it as Vegan — the shop’s broth is officially plant-based, gluten-free, built from kombu, fruits, and vegetables. Then our final verification step, which requires reading the shop’s own current menu, turned up something more specific: the plant-based broth is only served with one of the six main dishes, the vegetable curry. The other five mains use chicken, pork, beef, or a bonito-containing condiment. That difference matters. A restaurant that uses a plant-based broth for one item is not a vegan restaurant, and calling it one would misdirect readers who came here for exactly that. So the label changed, and this listing spells out both which specific bowl is safe and which specific toppings to avoid alongside it. The broth-quality point still stands; the plant-based-restaurant claim doesn’t.
