Verification notes
- "100% Halal Food" + "no pork or alcohol used" on official page (read directly)
- NOT on JHA / NAHA public certified lists (checked 2026-07-05)
- A5 wagyu gyukatsu & steak
Gyukatsu — a crisp-fried, rare-centered beef cutlet — is one of the trendiest dishes in Japan right now, and this Umeda restaurant serves it with A5 wagyu under a clear promise on its official site: “100% Halal Food… no pork or alcohol used.” It’s the Osaka branch of the same group as the Shinjuku-tei ramen shop in Tokyo, and our label logic is the same for both — see below.
What We Verified
- “100% Halal Food”, “no pork or alcohol used” — stated on the shop’s official page, which we read directly. Checked July 5, 2026.
- Why not “Certified Halal”? The site mentions halal certification documents but names no certifier, and we checked the public certified-company lists of both the Japan Halal Association and NAHA directly — the restaurant is not on either. Per our rules, the label stays Muslim-Friendly until certification can be verified at the source.
- Hours — 12:00–21:00, and the shop warns it may close early when sold out.
- Location — 7F Pont Nouveau, Sonezaki; ~4 min from Higashi-Umeda Sta., near Kita-Shinchi.
What We Could Not Confirm
- Certification body name and validity (see above).
- Regular closing days.
- Prayer space at this branch (the group’s Tokyo shops advertise one; unconfirmed here).
- Mirin / seasoning alcohol in side dishes.
What to Order
The premium wagyu gyukatsu set or the A5 wagyu yakiniku steak (mains ¥3,500–6,000 +tax). Chicken katsu is the lighter-budget option.

The Kansai Flagship of a Tokyo Group
The Shinjuku-tei group operates three restaurants — the wagyu-ramen shop in Tokyo we’ve also listed, the shabu-shabu-and-yakiniku restaurant in Akasaka, and this Osaka Umeda outpost specializing in gyukatsu (breaded, rare-fried beef cutlets). They share the same operational logic across all three: 100% halal-food positioning, prayer rooms on site, English menus, TableCheck-based reservation infrastructure, no third-party certifier we could verify. What changes across the three is the specific dish they specialize in, and here it’s gyukatsu — a preparation format that is genuinely popular in Japan right now, has spread through Muslim tourism markets as a way to eat wagyu at a lower price point than yakiniku, and is easier to adapt to a halal specification than a shared-grill yakiniku restaurant. The Umeda branch is centrally located, comfortably priced for what it is (¥3,500–6,000 mains), and works well as the lunch or early-dinner leg of a Kansai itinerary that also involves Kyoto.
