Salloga — known until 2024 as Itadakizen Maruyama, a name many guides still use — serves what plant-based travelers dream of and rarely find: full vegan washoku, including sushi made from mountain vegetables and seaweed, in a quiet spot near Maruyama Park. Lunch is casual; the sushi appears in a reservation-only dinner kaiseki course (¥10,000).
What We Verified
- 100% plant-based, stated officially — the shop’s Instagram announcement describes meals excluding all animal products (meat, fish, dairy, eggs, honey), with five-pungent-root-free requests accommodated. Verified across our July 2026 checks.
- Renamed February 2024 — from Itadakizen to Salloga; operating under the new name (confirmed via multiple current listings). Old-name search results are still common — same place.
- Vegan sushi lives in the dinner course — the ¥10,000 reservation-only kaiseki includes sushi of sansai (mountain vegetables), seaweed, and seasonal produce; it is not a standalone à-la-carte item.
- Lunch sets around ¥2,000, walk-in.
What We Could Not Confirm
- Operating days — sources disagree (Wed–Sun vs Thu–Sun); Mondays and Tuesdays are closed either way. Confirm via Instagram (@salloga.sapporo) before planning.
- A standalone official website (the salloga.com shop is an online store; Instagram is the live channel).
- Dinner reservation lead time (reported 3–5 days ahead).
- Mirin / seasoning alcohol.
What to Order
Dinner: the vegan sushi kaiseki (¥10,000, reserve days ahead) — the signature experience. Lunch: seasonal vegan washoku sets (~¥2,000) without booking.

The Renaming, and What Stayed
Salloga was called Itadakizen Maruyama until February 2024, when the shop rebranded. The change is worth flagging because a large fraction of the still-active English-language coverage of vegan restaurants in Sapporo — HappyCow entries, older travel blog posts, Michelin’s now-outdated pages — refers to the shop by the old name. A traveler searching for “Itadakizen Sapporo” will find plenty of hits. A traveler searching for “Salloga” will find fewer. What didn’t change with the rename is the shop itself: same address near Maruyama Park, same fully plant-based menu (meat, fish, dairy, eggs, and honey excluded, with five-pungent-root accommodation on request), same dinner course featuring vegan sushi as one of its plates. If you’re consulting older sources and don’t want to double-book, our listing has the current name and current details.
