In the middle of the Teramachi shopping arcade — five minutes from Kawaramachi — Mumokuteki serves the meal vegan travelers actually crave after a week of temple food: tofu hamburg steak set meals, parfaits, and tiramisu, all made with zero animal-derived ingredients across the entire menu (their words: no eggs, dairy, refined sugar, meat, fish, or chemical seasonings). Casual prices, kids’ space included.
What We Verified

- Hours — 11:30–20:00 (L.O. 19:00), closed Wednesdays; confirmed on both the official site and Tabelog.

What We Could Not Confirm
- Building address is written two ways across sources (same building, different lot numbering).
- Mirin / seasoning alcohol details.
- Five-pungent-root status for oriental vegans.
What to Order
The tofu hamburg set (¥1,800) — the house classic — and the vegan tiramisu parfait (¥1,500, gluten-free). Mains from around ¥600 make it one of central Kyoto’s best-value vegan meals.

The Teramachi Neighborhood
Teramachi and Nishiki Market are Kyoto’s most walkable food-shopping district — a covered arcade running north from Shijo-dori, packed with knife shops, tea merchants, pickle vendors, and street-food stalls — and Mumokuteki sits in the middle of it, on the second floor of a building called Human Forum. The location is exactly what you want if you’re a vegan traveler doing a Kyoto shopping day: a proper vegan set-meal restaurant, ten minutes’ walk from anything else you’re doing in the arcade, priced casually, with a kids’ play area for families. The fact that Mumokuteki also runs a lifestyle store on the same building’s other floors makes it the closest thing central Kyoto has to a fully integrated vegan lifestyle destination. Lunch here works as a hub around which you can build the rest of your afternoon.
